Russian gas shipments to Turkey via Trans-Balkan fall 23% Feb

MOSCOW, Feb 26 (PRIME) -- Russian gas supplies to Turkey via the Trans-Balkan pipeline fell 23% on the year since the start of February, according to data of pipeline operator Bulgartransgaz, seen by PRIME late Thursday.

Russia shipped 779.525 million cubic meters of gas from February 1 through Monday, while last year it sent 1.009 billion cubic meters. The supplies have amounted to 2.144 billion cubic meters since January 1, last year they stood at 2.266 billion cubic meters.

The decrease can be attributed to a warm weather in Turkey but several news outlets reported earlier citing their sources that gas price disagreements could have triggered the purchase amount decline.
